Drew Conway speaking at 6th Data Science Day!
I really feel honoured to welcome Drew Conway
as a speaker at our 6th Data Science Day! Clap your hands! :-)
is a leading expert in the application of computational methods to social and behavioral problems at large-scale. He is the Head of Data at Project Florida, and has been writing (everyone knows “Machine Learning for Hackers”, right?) and speaking about the role of data — and the discipline of data science — in industry, government, and academia for several years. Drew has advised and consulted companies across many industries; ranging from fledgling start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, as well as academic institutions and government agencies at all levels. He started his career in counter-terrorism as a computational social scientist in the U.S. intelligence community.
In his keynote he´ll talk about:
“Will work for
data hard problems”!
The narrative for the career arc of data scientists is broken. But, this is a great thing for both those interested in entering this field, and those that want to attract talent. In this talk I will discuss how both suppliers and consumers of data science talent can leverage what they care about most — hard problems — into a better career or better business. The pursuit of unicorns is best left to fantasy writers. Here’s how to work with the next generation of data scientists.
Drew will be at Data Science Day full-day, so a lot of opportunity to talk, discuss & share ideas with him!
